Tata Nexon EV 45 kWh – 5th Service Experience at 40,000 km

Owning an EV in India is a unique experience, but like every car, it also requires regular maintenance. Recently, I took my Tata Nexon EV 45 kWh for its 5th scheduled service. The odometer had crossed 40,000 km in less than 11 months, which made this service an important milestone.

In this blog, I’ll share my service experience, total cost, problems faced, and overall feedback—something that can be useful if you own or plan to buy a Nexon EV.

Problems Reported During Service

I had also highlighted a few complaints before the service began.

1. Suspension Noise

The suspension was making a constant noise. Upon inspection, the team found that:

  • Link rod bushes were completely worn out
  • Lower arm bushes were also damaged

2. Door Noise

I had started noticing unusual noises from the doors, which were irritating during long drives.

3. AC Water Leakage

Water from the air conditioning system was leaking inside the cabin. Even after cleaning the drain system, the leakage continued. The service team confirmed that AC components need replacement.

👉 Since these parts (link rod, arms, AC components) were not in stock, the service team placed an order. I will have to bring the car back once they arrive.

Time Taken for the Service

  • I reached the service center at 10:30 AM.
  • Basic work was completed by 5:00 PM.
  • Major issues (suspension & AC) could not be resolved since parts were not available.

So, essentially, I spent the entire day at the service center for just basic maintenance work.

Disappointment as a New Car Owner

What bothers me is that my Nexon EV is less than a year old, yet it has already required multiple replacements:

  • Cabin center console (changed earlier)
  • Axle replacement
  • Now, suspension and AC component issues

As an owner, it’s disheartening to see a new car needing repeated repair work apart from scheduled servicing.

Tata Nexon EV 40,000 km Service Cost

The total expense for this 5th service was just ₹2,200, which is reasonable for an EV compared to ICE cars. However, since multiple part replacements are required, I will likely incur additional costs once the ordered components arrive.

Final Thoughts – Should You Worry?

If you are a Tata Nexon EV owner or planning to buy one, here’s my takeaway:

  • Service cost is low compared to petrol/diesel cars.
  • Frequent part replacements (like suspension, AC, axle) are a concern.
  • Service center time can be long, especially if parts are unavailable.

I still enjoy the driving experience, range, and EV benefits, but Tata Motors needs to work on quality and after-sales support to improve customer satisfaction.
